Courses

There are two courses available to choose from, a one-day course and a two-day course. Itinerary for both is as follows:

One-day Course

9:30 a.m.

Introduction

Presentation ‘Expression and Related Elements’

Discussion

1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m.

Break for lunch (A good lunch can be had in Crosshaven village - a break away from the workshop is advisable.)

2:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Painting Session 1. Working and connecting with natures elements, such as sea and sky, to open our minds to freedom, expression and beyond. Using your imagination. Each artist will be gently guided through this stage. The emphasis at this point is to steer away from reality as we see it to reality as we feel it - through painting.

Review and discussion

5:00 p.m.

End


Please bring with you the following materials for the course:

  • Two canvasses, not canvas board. Preferably not smaller than 12’’ x 14’’ and not larger than 14’’ x 18’’

  • Oil paint tubes. Colours: White, Burnt Sienna, Cobalt Blue, Cerulean Blue, Raw Sienna, French Ultramarine Blue, Paynes Grey, Naples Yellow, Alizarin Crimson, Cadium Yellow Pale Hue, Buff Titanium, Indian Yellow, Viridian. Note: it is not necessary to obtain all of these colours. Colours are available to use in the workshop.

  • A selection of brushes.

  • Please also bring with you two of your own paintings.

 

Two-day Course

Day One - 10:00 a.m.

Day Two - 10:00 a.m.

Review & Discussion

Painting session 2. The hard part! Another painting. We now begin the adventure of creating a work using a factor with which we have experienced in our own lives. It is important to note that it is not the particular subject or situation that should be painted but the EXPRESSION of what it is you felt at that time.

1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m.

Break for lunch (A good lunch can be had in Crosshaven village - a break away from the workshop is advisable.)

2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Review & Discussion

Painting session 3. We will have worked on two paintings over the two days. We will now use this time in contemplative mind and put on any final touches to complete and finish both paintings.

4:00 p.m.
